On This Day 07 June

What a day in musical history!  Today in 1977 was the first night of the six fabled Led Zeppelin shows at Madison Square Garden.  But for me, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones with Foo Fighters at Wembley in 2008 just zings straight to my heart.

From Ross Halfin's diary June 7, 2008
"I climb onto the stage as they take a bow, get them to turn around and face me and get... the photo I want. Walk off the stage with Jimmy and John Paul Jones, stop them on the ramp and take a couple of shots. John says he wished they'd done more, they were just getting going."

Don't we all.

Before Moby Dick Plant said: “I once heard a song called The Witch Queen of New Orleans. Well, tonight, I’m pleased to announce that John Bonham is The Drag Queen Of New Orleans!" Page laughs so much that he enters the piece late…

After this show the band members attended a party at Cosimo Recording Studios (note that this event has been posted elsewhere as occurring in 1972, but in May 1972 the band was recording at Stargroves, Mick Jagger's country home, and subsequently at Olympic Studios in England).
